SeaFort Capital is a private investment firm based in Halifax that makes direct control investments in profitable mid-sized Canadian companies. Founded in 2012 by a small group of private investors, SeaFort partners with strong management teams to strengthen and grow their businesses. SeaFort Capital is investing its second fund which has committed capital of $189 million.  

SeaFort Capital is seeking an Associate to work in its Halifax Office, reporting to the Principal. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of a small, dynamic team that actively identifies, acquires, and manages investments across Canada. The Associate will participate in all aspects of the investment process, including research, deal sourcing, due diligence, valuation, business analysis, deal execution, and ongoing portfolio company support. The Associate will also participate in SeaFort’s mentorship program. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the screening, diligence, and execution of new investments 

  • Build financial models to assist in investment evaluation, structuring and pricing 

  • Identify potential opportunities and conduct industry analysis to develop investment targets 

  • Prepare materials presenting opportunities to the deal team and investment committee 

  • Work with existing portfolio companies to monitor performance, attend board meetings as an observer, and assist in the preparation of investor relations materials 

  • Support marketing and generation of new investment opportunities 

  • Additional duties as required 

Qualifications:

  • 2 to 5 years relevant experience 

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field 

  • CFA, CBV or CPA designation or progress towards a designation would be valuable 

  • Exceptional analytical, financial modeling and valuation skills 

  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently and take initiative 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills 

  • Proficiency leveraging AI tools to enhance research, analysis, and workflow efficiency 

  • French language skills would be valuable but not required
